20+ Ways to Wear a Gingham (Plaid, Checkered, Buffalo Plaid, or Buffalo Check) Shirt

One of this year's fashion trends: a gingham shirt -- especially in black or navy. And often in the large-scale plaid often called "buffalo check" or "buffalo plaid." (Wonder why? Here's the history of buffalo plaid.)

One of my favorite ways to wear it; with a strong color.

Conversely, I also love it mixed with other neutrals...

It's often paired with pearls, a playful contrast for the plaid's masculine overtones.

Pairing it with a girly skirt has a similar effect.

Or go extra-girly and pair it with pearls and a skirt!

A checkered shirt is often seen peeking out from under a light sweater.

Love it with this mint green...

And paired with... polka-dots? No, hedgehogs!

Topping it with a jacket, blazer, vest, cardigan, and/or large scarf can tone down the impact of that big plaid...

Or keep it straight-up simple: throw on your gingham shirt, a pair of jeans, and you're good to go!

19 Ways to Wear a Chambray Shirt for Fall and Winter

Love that chambray shirts -- or jeans shirts, denim shirts -- are very much in style this Fall/Winter! So versatile; how to wear a chambray shirt...

Over a plaid shirt, and/or under a leather jacket.

Over a lacy shirt, under a chunky sweater.

One super-popular option is chambray paired with camel or tan.

Fall trend trifecta: chambray shirt, skinny jeans, leopard-print flats!

Chambray shirts are also lovely layered under cream or oatmeal sweaters.

Or under a white, cream, or black blazer.

Another trendy combo: chambray paired with a bright color like mustard, or poppy.

LOVE this combo! Navy, chambray, and brick.

Another hot trend this Fall/Winter: pair it with an oversize plaid scarf...

...or a military vest.
